Pontefract gets go-ahead

This afternoon’s meeting at Pontefract goes ahead after the track passed a precautionary inspection.

Clerk of the course Norman Gundill was concerned by the prospect of overnight rain but was satisfied when he checked conditions at 6.30am.

A course spokesman said: “We are on as planned and the going is soft. The course is perfectly raceable as long as we don’t get any heavy or persistent rain but there are no problems at the moment.”
