Sick Mudawin out of Plate

Ebor winner Mudawin will not run in Saturday’s John Smith’s Northumberland Plate at Newcastle due to illness.

The well-regarded gelding was prominent in the betting for the Pitmen’s Derby after finishing a promising third to Sentry Duty at Newmarket in May.

Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam told the Daily Mail: “He’s had sickness and been on medication.

“He will hopefully now run in the Silver Bowl at York on July 14 and then go for the Ebor again.”
