Jock to make step up after Britannia win

Britannia Stakes winner Eddie Jock is likely to step up in class on his next start.

Britannia Stakes winner Eddie Jock is likely to step up in class on his next start.

After winning one of the most competitive handicaps of the season at Royal Ascot last week off top weight, his trainer Michael Bell now concedes his handicapping days are over.

“He’s fine, but we have no fixed agenda for him. I think handicaps are out as he is rated 111, we are contemplating where to go,” said Bell.

“There is a conditions race he can run in without a penalty at the July meeting but I’m just questioning whether that is the right route to go with him.

“We will try to pick up a Listed race with him hopefully.”
