Vinando out of Plate contention
Vinando will miss the John Smith’s Northumberland Plate at Newcastle on Saturday.
Trainer Charles Egerton has decided not to ask the six-year-old to carry the steadier of 9st 9lb in the two-mile heritage handicap.
Vinando was in action at Royal Ascot and finished fifth to Enjoy The Moment in the Queen Alexandra Stakes on the final day of the meeting.
Egerton will now give last season’s Chester Cup runner-up more time to recover from Saturday’s exertions and plans to send him back to Ascot for the Sony Handicap over two miles on July 14.
“He’s a non-runner in the Plate. He’s fine and he’s going to run at Ascot in a couple of weeks,” confirmed Egerton.
Vinando was generally available at 33-1 for the Gosforth Park feature.
