Irish one, two at equestrian show

Irish riders took first and second places at today's speed class at the four-star show in Drammen, Norway.

Capt. Shane Carey steered the Irish-bred 'Cashla Bay' through the beam in a time of 51 seconds, just under two seconds ahead of Co. Down's Conor Swail on 'Nepomuk'.

Both riders are now competing in the Norway Nations' Cup, which was postponed from yesterday due to heavy rain at the venue.

Ireland competes against ten other nations in the competition, which was transferred to an indoor arena at Drammen.

Comdt Gerry Flynn and Paul O'Shea are the other two members of the Irish team.
