Newtown Abbot announce inspection

Officials at Newton Abbot will hold an 8am inspection on Monday ahead of their evening fixture on Tuesday.

While the course could take racing at present, estate manager Jason Loosemore says further appreciable rain would put the meeting in doubt.

He said: “We’re heavy at the moment and we are raceable at this moment in time.

“But there is more rain due today and showers through the night so with that in mind we will take a look at eight in the morning before declarations to see how it’s faring.

“That said, we also have further rain due tomorrow, so if we pass the first inspection we will probably look to inspect on Tuesday too.

“Last night we had 12 millimetres of rain when we were only forecast showers so we will just play it by ear and see how the weather progresses.”
