Ripon abandoned due to waterlogging

Ripon have abandoned their Wednesday evening meeting due to waterlogging.

Officials at the North Yorkshire track initially called an inspection for 12 noon but then brought that check forward to 10am.

However, just after 9.30am, clerk of the course James Hutchinson took the decision to call off the meeting after 19 millimetres of rain overnight.

“There’s a bit of standing water at around the four-furlong mark which is the area I have been having problems with,” said Hutchinson.

“We’ve had to abandon. The rain last night just topped up everything we had over the weekend.”
