Rain threat for Ripon

Ripon will hold a 12 noon inspection ahead of their evening meeting after heavy overnight rain at the track.

Although clerk of the course James Hutchinson remains hopeful of racing, he admits the forecast for this afternoon is not favourable.

He said: “We had 19 millimetres of rain overnight and the ground is now soft, heavy in places.

“There’s a bit of standing water at around the four-furlong mark which is the area I have been having problems with.

“The forecast is decent this morning but it gets progressively worse as the day goes on.”
