Williams to challenge Hereford decision
Evan Williams is to appeal to the Horseracing Regulatory Authority against the decision of the local stewards to demote Naomh Aaron to second place at Hereford.
The six-year-old was first past the post, just a short head in front of Or Sing About, at the end of the Join WBX.COM For £150 Free Bets Novices’ Handicap Hurdle over three and a quarter miles.
However, the placings were reversed following a stewards’ inquiry.
“I will definitely appeal. I’ve had so many good judges ring me to say the decision was the wrong one,” said Williams.
“Paul Moloney didn’t even get banned for the ride. That’s what I can’t understand if it had an effect on the race. He only got a caution. We will take it to Shaftesbury Avenue, definitely, and take it from there.”
The first two had the race to themselves in the closing stages, finishing 25 lengths clear of the third horse, Coolers Quest.
