Elsworth more upbeat over Mill
David Elsworth was decidedly more upbeat over the chances of his Vodafone Derby hopeful Salford Mill after he sparkled in a workout.
The Peintre Celebre colt had put in two lacklustre pieces of work last week leaving Elsworth wondering if the Derby was the right race for him.
However, with the three-year-old now back bouncing, Elsworth is just hoping the rain stays away from Epsom before Saturday.
“He was in sparkling form this morning when we gave him a couple of canters. He looks great and we are just hoping that this rain holds off – we don’t really want any more,” said Elsworth.
“If we get a few dry days and the ground is good, we are looking forward to the encounter.”
Elsworth is bidding to join an elite list of trainers who have landed both the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Derby and Salford Mill is as low as 9-1 to help him complete the double.
