Wait camp on weather watch

Paul Blockley is keeping a close eye on the weather ahead of Wait Watcher’s intended run at the weekend.

The filly is entered in the Listed onerailway.com Fairway Stakes at Newmarket and the totesport.com Silver Bowl, with the latter the more likely target at present.

“We don’t know where she will go yet, it all depends on the ground really,” said Blockley.

“I would think Haydock is favourite at the moment as the ground is still a bit too quick at Newmarket.

“There is some rain forecast there though and it would be nice to go for the Listed race but the key is really the ground.”

Wait Watcher has won one of her five starts, although she also passed the post first in the Fillies Five Hundred at the Curragh last September only to be disqualified and placed second.

Blockley’s filly disappointed on her reappearance in the Fred Darling but the trainer still has some big plans in mind, including a bid at one of the autumn features.

“She’s hard to make a plan for as she does need easy ground but we have entered her for the Arc and we would love to go there,” he added.

“It’s a big ask for three-year-old fillies but they have a good record in the race and she’s such a switched-off filly, she lobs along anywhere and I think she will get the trip.

“We will have to see what happens though as you tend to get more soft ground in France in the autumn so there could be some good opportunities there.”
