Kurten second in Madrid speed competition
Jessica Kurten racked up the best Irish result so far at this weekend's five star show in Madrid, Spain when taking second place this morning in the 1m40 speed class with her new nine-year-old chestnut mare Kalande de Grez.
Kurten was almost two seconds off the pace of Portuguese winner Luis Sabino Goncalves, who had also beaten her in Friday's Two-Phase competition at Madrid, both riding the same horses.
The 37-year-old Irish rider will, however, be fielding her current top horse Castle Forbes Maike for this afternoon's Madrid Grand Prix. Kurten used Maike to win the 22,000 euro Longines Grand Prix
at la Baule, France, last weekend.
