O'Brien points Mountain at Guineas

Aidan O’Brien has suggested that Vodafone Derby fancy Eagle Mountain is more likely to run in the Boylesports 2000 Guineas at the Curragh next weekend.

After finishing fourth behind red-hot Derby favourite Authorized in the Racing Post Trophy at the end of last season, he reappeared with an eye-catching run to finish fifth behind Cockney Rebel in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

He is likely to take on Geoff Huffer’s stable star once again, along with Dutch Art in a strong renewal.

“It will be the middle of next week before we finalise plans for the Irish Guineas, but at this stage it is looking as though Eagle Mountain and Duke Of Marmalade (fourth at Newmarket) will both be heading for the Curragh,” O’Brien told the Racing Post.
