Tempo on track

Frankie Dettori is looking forward to Measured Tempo’s reappearance in tomorrow’s Swettenham Stud Fillies Trial Stakes at Newbury.

After a low-key start to the season, Godolphin are starting to hit form and the Sadler’s Wells filly is one of their major Classic hopes this year.

She is as low as 7-1 with William Hill for the Vodafone Oaks and Dettori believes she can book her ticket to Epsom with a good performance tomorrow.

“She’s an exciting filly. She’s a nice Sadler’s Wells filly who won over a mile last year on soft ground,” Dettori told Racing UK.

“She seems to have wintered well and I like her. Tomorrow is the test for the Oaks and if she passes that well, she’s Oaks bound.”

Measured Tempo’s task has already been made slightly easier following the withdrawal of Sir Michael Stoute’s Promising Lead, who was also declared for the Michael Seeley Memorial Fillies’ Stakes at York.

Brian Meehan’s Cast In Gold, fourth in the Fred Darling, and Mick Channon’s Fiumicino, well-beaten behind Oaks fancy Dalvina, also take up the challenge.

In Safe Hands and Ransom Captive complete the field for the race which Eswarah claimed on the way to Epsom glory in 2005.
