Shift on course for Epsom

Light Shift is likely to make the switch to Classic company in the Vodafone Oaks at Epsom on June 1.

The Kingmambo filly was an impressive winner of the Listed Cheshire Oaks for trainer Henry Cecil last week, her third win in five starts.

Cecil, who has already won the Oaks seven times in the past, has a particularly strong hand in the mile-and-a-half event this term with ante-post favourite Passage Of Time.

“I was very pleased with Light Shift. She won from a difficult position and showed a good turn of foot,” said Cecil.

“Obviously, there is a good chance that she will be in the Oaks line-up as long as we are happy with her homework leading up to Epsom.”

Phoenix Tower is also set to step up in class for the Listed Heron Stakes at Sandown later this month.

The Chester House colt is unbeaten in three career starts and completed a quick double when claiming a Windsor conditions event last Monday.

“Phoenix Tower seems well and is still on course for Heron Stakes at Sandown later this month,” the trainer told www.henrycecil.com.
