Hopes high for Xinji

John Oxx hopes Xinji can acquit herself well in the Derrinstown Stud 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The Xaar filly broke her maiden at the second time of asking at Gowran Park last August but has not been seen since.

“She did well that day and she improved nicely from her first run and made all the running. She quickened away and won easily,” said Oxx.

“We did want to get another run in to her but she had a setback and then the ground went against her.

“I’m happy with her and we’ve been waiting for fast ground,” he told At The Races.

“She had a little setback last week but she has recovered now and we’d like to run her on Sunday.”

Xinji is entered in the Boylesports Irish 1000 Guineas and the Coronation Stakes later in the season.
