Cheveley Stud duo have Lockinge aim
Nannina and Peeress are likely to begin their respective campaigns in the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes on May 19.
Providing underfoot conditions are deemed suitable, the Cheveley Park Stud-owned duo are set to lock horns in the Newbury Group One feature that went the way of the latter in 2006.
“I think it will be ground-dependent for Peeress, but she looks really well,” said Chris Richardson, managing director of the stud.
“I think she has developed beautifully once again and we should be competing at the top level over a mile.
“If it were very, very dry then Nannina would obviously have the advantage of preferring that sort of ground,” he told At The Races.
“We are quite likely to start both there with a view to something like the Windsor Forest at Royal Ascot (June 20) for Nannina once she’s got a run under her belt.”
Nannina won the Coronation Stakes at the Royal meeting last year before finishing third to Ouija Board in the 10-furlong Nassau Stakes later in the season.
