Mile no problem for Beatrix
Miss Beatrix has “every chance” of getting a mile when she tackles the trip for the first time in the Stan James 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday.
That is the view of her trainer Kevin Prendergast, who says she showed no signs of weakening when winning three times over seven furlongs last season.
“Basically she has a more sprinting pedigree than a miler,” Prendergast said.
“From a punter’s point of view you are asking how can she get a mile but she got seven on soft ground at the Curragh and did it well (in the Goffs Million).
“She has every chance of getting the trip, but whether she’s good enough we’ll have to see.
“She’s won over seven twice and she seemed to be going away from the opposition, not stopping. She’s in good shape and we hope she runs a big race.
“She’s very fit and doesn’t take an awful lot of getting ready,” he told At The Races.
Miss Beatrix is 14-1 with the sponsors to strike in the upcoming Newmarket Classic.
