Mick Kinane was the toast of Hong Kong today with a brilliant Group One double for trainer John Moore at Sha Tin.

Mick Kinane was the toast of Hong Kong today with a brilliant Group One double for trainer John Moore at Sha Tin.

The multiple Irish champion jockey partnered Viva Pataca to victory in the Audemars Piguet QE II Cup and also won the Champions Mile on Able One.

Viva Pataca, formerly known as Comic Strip when trained in England by Sir Mark Prescott, lifted the QE II Cup in tremendous style.

Held up just behind the leaders in the early stages, he was produced by Kinane to make his challenge in the centre of the course in the straight.

Storming into the lead over a furlong out, he kept on strongly to score from Dubai Sheema Classic winner Vengeance Of Rain with Dubai Duty Free victor Admire Moon third.

Kinane had earlier made all the running when Able One sprang a 33-1 surprise in the Champions Mile as Moore landed a notable one-two.

Kinane controlled the race from the off and picked up the pace in the straight.

Able One responded admirably to land the spoils from his stablemate Joyful Winner with The Duke third and Floral Pegasus a close fourth.
