Aces on the mend

Aces Four is reported to be making a good recovery after his crashing fall at Punchestown earlier this week.

The eight-year-old was in front when falling at the last in Tuesday’s Ellier Developments Hanover Quay Champion Novice Chase.

“The vets had a look at him this morning and they were happy enough with him,” said trainer Ferdy Murphy.

“He has just pulled some muscles – there’s no skeletal damage – and he will have some physio before he goes out to grass.

“He was concussed but he’s fine now and probably doesn’t remember much of what happened.”

Aces Four suffered bad luck when stumbling three fences from home in the Royal & SunAlliance Chase at Cheltenham, but was a winner at Aintree on his penultimate start.
