Cockney Rebel confirmed for Stan James Guineas
Cockney Rebel is back in the Stan James 2000 Guineas picture after delighting connections in a racecourse gallop at Lingfield.
Geoff Huffer’s charge was found to be suffering from a bacterial infection at the start of the month, but he satisfied his handler when working over a mile with Banjo Patterson.
Huffer said: “Cockney Rebel worked exceptionally well this morning and delighted his rider Emmett Stack.
“He went well clear of his lead horse without Emmett moving a muscle on him.”
Cockney Rebel won one of three starts last term as well as finishing a close third in the Champagne Stakes at York on his final start.
Huffer added: “With all the adverse rumours about a couple of those at the top of the market it could be one of the most open Guineas in recent years.”
The son of Val Royal is as low as 20-1 with the Classic sponsor.
