Russell steers Mansony to victory in Kerrygold Chase

Davy Russell piloted Mansony to victory in the day-one feature at the Punchestown Festival this afternoon - the Kerrygold Champion Chase.

Justified came second ahead of Steel Band and River City.

Meanwhile Barry Geraghty claimed a double with victory in both the Champion Novice Hurdle, aboard Clopf, and, with Charlie's First, in the Evening Herald Handicap Hurdle.

There was misfortune for jockey Davy Condon, however - he was brought to Naas General Hospital after a heavy fall off the horse Streets Have No Name.

He was conscious following the accident, and was said not to be badly injured, but has been stood down from racing for 21 days as a precaution.
