Salmon set for Punchestown
Beef Or Salmon will try to make amends for a disappointing run at Cheltenham in next week’s Punchestown Guinness Gold Cup.
The 11-year-old was only 13th in the Cheltenham Gold Cup but boasts a much better record in the Punchestown feature, having won it in 2004 and finished second last year.
Trainer Michael Hourigan told the Racing Post: “Things didn’t work out again according to plans at Cheltenham last month so hopefully next week will bring a better outcome.
“They appear to be doing a good job with the watering of the track and with some rain forecast on Monday conditions should be fine for our horse who seems in great form since his trip away.
“The plan is also to run Hi Cloy in the race again too and if he improves on last year’s third I’ll be delighted.”
Beef Or Salmon will be bidding for an 11th Grade One win at Punchestown.
