Lucy back on winning trail

Gemini Lucy bounced back from a poor run at Cheltenham to notch an impressive success in the Tattersalls Ireland Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse.

Gemini Lucy bounced back from a poor run at Cheltenham to notch an impressive success in the Tattersalls Ireland Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse.

Jessica Harrington’s charge was fancied to run a big race in the Arkle Challenge Trophy last month but she was never really travelling in the two-mile heat.

However, allowed her usual front-running role here, the 5-2 favourite made every yard of the running to come home 17 lengths clear of Old Flame.

Willie Mullins’ veteran Mossy Green finished third while the well-fancied Accordion Etoile unseated his rider at the second last on his seasonal bow.

Harrington said: “She just galloped them into the ground. She was in season at Cheltenham but she’s also better going right-handed and on good ground.

“Today is the best she’s ever jumped. She’ll probably go for the Swordlestown Cup at Punchestown next.”
