Ireland's Dan Walsh took an impressive second place in the big Silver Tour jump-off class at Arezzo, Italy this afternoon.

The 24 year-old, who is from Celbridge and is based at Cian O'Connor's yard in Co. Meath, was riding the nine year-old bay mare Celeste.

Walsh was over seven seconds off the pace of German winner Armin Schafer Jr but his careful riding secured him one of only two double clears in the competition, with third-placed Vincenzo Chimirri from Italy dislodging two poles in the jump-off to finish with eight faults.

"Arezzo is my first show with the mare, and I am delighted at such a result" Walsh said afterwards. "She was just fantastic."
