Ben takes Cork spoils

Our Ben led all the way to run out an easy winner of the Imperial Call Chase at Cork.

The 4-6 favourite, trained by Willie Mullins, was always travelling well for Ruby Walsh and put in a superb round of jumping in the three-mile contest.

Romek tried to mount a challenge but he never recovered from a mistake at the third-last and it was left to Lady Kate Ellen to take second spot, two and a half lengths behind the winner.

Mullins said: “I was a bit concerned about the ground but I’m delighted with the way he did it.

“He’s in the Topham Chase but I don’t think he will run, we will probably wait for Punchestown with him.

“He could run in anything from two to three miles but I’m planning to bring him back in trip when I get the right race for him. I wouldn’t be afraid of running him over two miles.”
