Pitt plots Chicken Soup

Tim Pitt feels Chicken Soup is worth another try at Listed level in Saturday’s intercasino.co.uk Magnolia Stakes at Kempton.

A winner of two of his last five starts, as well as being unlucky in another two races, the five-year-old has steadily improved since joining the Bawtry trainer.

“He ran a career-best in the Doncaster Mile at Lingfield last week when he was only beaten by Banknote,” said Pitt.

“He’s been a revelation since he won at Wolverhampton just after Christmas, and when we got him he was rated about 65 – and now he’s running off 88.

“He came out of Lingfield in real good form. It’s another tough race, but it was either this or run in a handicap off top weight so we decided to have a crack.”

Sri Diamond is looking for compensation in this race having been ruled out of the Winter Derby with a bruised foot from which he has now recovered.

Other dangers in the 10-furlong affair include Charlie Cool, who returns to Britain following a decent stint in Dubai, John Gosden’s Imperial Star and Nakheel, who is still trying to rediscover the smart form of his juvenile days.
