Percy set for Sheema date

Last year’s Vodafone Derby hero Sir Percy is set to tackle the Dubai Sheema Classic at Nad Al Sheba on March 31.

Trainer Marcus Tregoning had also entered the four-year-old for next weekend’s Betdirect Winter Derby at Lingfield but has opted to make the trip to Dubai.

“We’ve decided on Dubai because Sir Percy has done plenty of work and is in very good order,” he told the Racing Post.

“We had the Winter Derby as Plan B because it would have eliminated the travelling and it is obvious from his work on the Polytrack at Lingfield that he likes the place and the surface.”
