Light fantastic for balding

Rambling Light opened his account in devastating fashion when scooting clear in division one of the williamhillpoker.com Maiden Stakes at Wolverhampton.

Liam Keniry always had the 7-1 shot in the firing line and he quickly put matters to bed when striking for home off the final bend.

Ryan Moore gave chase on the 4-6 favourite Elyaadi but despite reducing the gap close to the line, he still finished three-quarters of a length adrift in second.

Winning trainer Andrew Balding’s father Ian said: “There is not much of him but he is going the right way.

“He wasn’t fully tuned up today so he should improve for this and he will stay further. Ten furlongs won’t be a problem and he should get a mile and a half.”
