Officials at Fontwell are hoping the weather forecast is accurate to allow racing to go ahead tomorrow.

The track is heavy, but raceable, after 15 millimetres of rain fell overnight and no inspection is planned as yet.

“Everything’s fine at the moment. We had 15 millimetres of rain overnight we are now heavy ground. The forecast is for slight showers this afternoon and then a dry night,” said clerk of the course Richard Aldous.

“I am due to walk the course at 3.30pm. I haven’t called an inspection at the moment because there is no need but if we’ve had more rain than anticipated by then I will call a precautionary inspection.”
