Newcastle Tuesday card in doubt

Newcastle’s meeting on Tuesday is in the balance after officials called a 7.30 inspection tomorrow morning.

The track at Gosforth Park is currently heavy, waterlogged in places after a deluge of rainfall over the last few days.

“The majority of the water from Saturday is starting to disappear but it is the false ground left over which is a problem,” said clerk of the course James Armstrong.

“More showers are forecast and it has been raining since 6.30am, which has not helped matters.

“We have called a 7.30 inspection for tomorrow but we may bring that forward if we are struggling.”
