All well with Champion favourite
Detroit City is reported to be in top form following his workmanlike victory in the Agfa UK Hurdle at Sandown.
The Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle favourite completed his preparations for the Festival with a one-and-three-quarter-length win over Straw Bear.
Detroit City had to survive a fright at the last when he crashed through the hurdle, although Minehead trainer Philip Hobbs says he is none the worse for the experience.
“He’s absolutely A1 this morning and won’t run again before the Festival now,” he said.
“There’s no ill effects (from his last-flight mishap), he’s fine.”
Detroit City is the general 5-2 favourite for the blue riband with current title-holder Brave Inca the second-favourite at a best-priced 4-1 with William Hill.
