Joy on the comeback trail

Macs Joy is on course for a first run this winter in the AIG Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown on January 28.

The three-time Grade One winner, who won the AIG in 2005, has not been seen on a racecourse since defeating Brave Inca by four lengths in the ACC Bank Champion Hurdle at Punchestown last April.

However, Jessica Harrington reported her star eight-year-old to be in top trim ahead of his comeback run later this month.

As well as Macs Joy, Harrington could also start Breathing Fire and high-class novice Hide The Evidence.

“All three have been entered and could run,” said Harrington.

“Macs Joy was off a couple of days and there was no point pushing the button before Christmas.

“He’s coming to the AIG – that’s the plan unless something goes wrong.”
