Warwick and Carlisle face Friday inspections

Saturday’s meeting at Warwick is in doubt after heavy rain left parts of the track waterlogged.

The course, which is set to host the totesport.com Classic Chase and Ballymore Properties Leamington Novices’ Hurdle, is currently described as heavy and an inspection has been called for 8am on Friday.

Clerk of the course Fiona Needham said: “We will have a look on Friday morning but we are heavy and waterlogged in places.

“There are a few areas of standing water on the track and we are pumping that off. The forecast is for rain tomorrow and it is not looking good, but we have to give it every chance. Given the forecast, it’s not looking promising but forecasters can be wrong.”

Meanwhile, Carlisle have called an inspection for 8am on Friday ahead of their planned fixture on Sunday.

The track is heavy and waterlogged in places – with a further 11 millimetres of overnight rain adding to the Cumbria venue’s woes.
