Snakebite considered for Haydock test

Snakebite looks like being thrust into seasoned handicap company in the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock on Saturday week.

After being beaten by Denman in his first two attempts over fences in November, the seven-year-old opened his account over the bigger obstacles in a beginners’ chase at Folkestone a month ago.

The Carl Llewellyn-trained gelding is now set to sidestep Warwick on Saturday where he holds two entries – the totepool Novices’ Chase and the feature totesport.com Classic Chase – to wait for the big handicap chase at the Merseyside venue.

“He probably won’t go to Warwick. He’s going to go to Haydock for the Peter Marsh, I think,” said Llewellyn.

“I’m hoping he’s an improving young horse.”
