Pass team play waiting game
Trainer Suzy Smith will discuss plans for Pass Me By when owner Paul Beck returns from Australia.
Beck missed his chaser’s victory in the Sussex National at Plumpton on Sunday but is now on his way home from Down Under after supporting his friend, Andrew Flintoff, in his doomed quest to retain the Ashes.
“He’s very good and he’s come out of the race very well,” said Lewes-based Smith, who has only had the eight-year-old since September.
Pass Me By has a habit of jumping to the right, which is currently limiting his options.
“I’m going to speak to Paul. He’s on his way back from Australia so we’ll have a chat and decide what to do,” she added.
“It’s just very difficult because every race I want to put him in is left-handed. We’ve going to have to decide whether we can stop this jumping right business or whether we just stick to running him right-handed.
“There are lots of races I’d like to put him in at the moment but they are all the wrong way.”
