Lingfield given go-ahead
Today’s racing at Lingfield will go ahead as planned after officials declared themselves happy with the condition of the track.
Clerk of the course Neil Mackenzie-Ross expected to hold a 7.30am precautionary inspection after the weather forecast indicated the Surrey venue was likely to be hit with around six millimetres of rain overnight.
However, the course received only a fraction of that rain and with the weather set to remain fair for the rest of the day, there was no need to inspect.
Explaining the situation, Mackenzie-Ross said: “Basically I have been out first thing this morning and we only had just over one millimetre of rain last night. Racing goes ahead and we should have a dry day with some sunny spells now.”
Conditions are described as heavy, although the Chase course is soft in places.
