Exeter gets go-ahead

Exeter racecourse will stage today's fixture as planned after officials elected to cancel a planned 7.30am inspection.

Despite the track being hit with significant rain yesterday, clerk of the course Barry Johnson has declared himself happy with current conditions - although the ground is described as heavy.

He said: "We've had 14 millimetres of rain in total since yesterday breakfast time but the course has taken that brilliantly and we're definitely racing."

The action kicks off at 12.40 with the Thurleston Hotel "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle.
