Maguire back in the big time
Adrian Maguire celebrated the biggest success of his fledgling training career so far when Celestial Wave made all for a famous success in the woodiesdiy.com Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown.
The brave mare was barely out of cruise control under a confident Timmy Murphy, who could afford more than one look around before saluting the crowd as the pair strolled home 10 lengths to the good over Sweet Kiln.
VC Bet introduced the six-year-old at 10-1 for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
But Maguire told At The Races: “There’s definitely not going to be any pressure on me to go anywhere with this mare.
“I said after Navan that Cheltenham seems to come up quicker and quicker so it’s very, very unlikely that she will go to Cheltenham.
“I can’t see the ground ever being soft again at Cheltenham unless they do something about it.
“It’s just a fantastic day, a brilliant day.”
