Fallon to face race-fix trial
Champion jockey Kieran Fallon and two other racehorse jockeys will face trial in the autumn in connection with a plot to fix the results of races.
Mr Justice Forbes today fixed the date of the trial at the Old Bailey in London to September 24 next year.
Fallon was not at the two-hour hearing as defendants were not obliged to attend.
Fallon, (aged 41), Fergal Lynch, (aged 28), Darren Williams, (aged 27), along with Miles Rodgers, (aged 37), Philip Sherkle, (aged 38), and Shaun Lynch, (aged 37), deny the allegations against them.
They are charged with conspiracy to defraud between December 2002 and September 2004, by interfering with the running of horses to ensure they lost races, defrauding punters with internet betting firm Betfair.
Rodgers, a former racing syndicate director, was also accused of concealing the proceeds of crime.
