Ayr fit for racing

This afternoon’s meeting at Ayr has passed a 7.45am precautionary inspection and goes ahead as scheduled.

Although the course has been hit with 33 millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours, clerk of the course Katherine Self was able to give the seven-race card, which begins at 12.20pm, the go-ahead.

“We’ve omitted two fences on the chase course but racing is on,” she said.

“We’ve had a lot of rain but the course has stood up to it well and we are heavy, soft in places.”
