Although the course has been hit with 33 millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours, clerk of the course Katherine Self was able to give the seven-race card, which begins at 12.20pm, the go-ahead.

“We’ve omitted two fences on the chase course but racing is on,” she said.

“We’ve had a lot of rain but the course has stood up to it well and we are heavy, soft in places.”
