Ayr forced to inspect

Officials at Ayr racecourse have called a precautionary inspection for 7.45am ahead of tomorrow’s racing.

The course has been hit with sustained showers over the past 24 hours or so, and with further rain forecast, the situation will be assessed in the morning.

“We have had 22 millimetres of rain overnight and up until 4pm today,” said a spokeswoman.

“We are also forecast to get more heavy rain tonight so we have decided to call a precautionary inspection.”
