Plumpton are “very positive” about the chances of tomorrow’s meeting going ahead despite calling a precautionary inspection for 8am.

Although the track is currently raceable, clerk of the course Mark Cornford is concerned by a forecast of possible heavy ran overnight.

He said: “We are very positive, the forecast is a worry though as rain is supposed to move in after dark tonight and continue until tomorrow morning.

“It depends on which forecast you look at as to how much we will get but I felt it prudent to call a precautionary inspection.

“The last significant rain we had was on Friday and we have had a drying period since then and although the ground is heavy, we could take some rain now.”
