David Dennis faces a spell on the sidelines after hurting his back in a heavy fall at Wetherby on Saturday.

The jump jockey damaged a bone in his back in the tumble from Livingonaknifedge at the fourth-last fence in the One Man Novices’ Chase.

He was taken to Harrogate District Hospital for x-rays but later discharged and he now plans to see a specialist today.

“I spoke to him and he was in a bit of pain,” said his agent Chris Broad.

“They discharged from hospital, but he has compounded a bone in his back.

“I wouldn’t like to give a timescale on how long he might be out and he’s going to see a specialist on Monday.

“He could be out a while, but it could have been a lot worse.”
