Jockeys face disciplinary panel
Jockeys Paul O’Neill and Neil Callan will go before the disciplinary panel of the Horseracing Regulatory Authority tomorrow.
The panel will consider whether O’Neill was guilty of improper riding aboard second-placed The Langer in the Bluestone South West Novices’ Hurdle at Taunton earlier in the month.
Rather than suspending O’Neill for seven to 14 days, the Taunton stewards chose to refer the matter to the HRA after he failed to pull up his mount after it had gone lame.
The panel will also consider whether Callan was guilty of deliberately misleading Hamilton’s senior racecourse medical officer on May 7, when stating that he felt unwell and unable to honour a riding commitment later in the afternoon.
