Ennis strikes Kilavullan gold
Trainer Francis Ennis landed his first Pattern-race success as Confuchias flew home to claim the Group Three Killavullan Stakes at Leopardstown.
The Cape Cross colt looked to have a mountain to climb turning into the straight as Aidan O’Brien’s Albert Einstein, the 2-1 favourite, made his bid for glory.
However, Albert Einstein jinked on the run-in and interfered with stable companion Frederick Ozanam who in turn bumped the winner.
Willie Supple gathered Confuchias together though, and the 7-2 chance only had to be pushed out for a comfortable three-quarter length victory.
Ennis said: “He’s a nice horse and he did it well.
“He shows plenty of pace at home and though he got bumped, he picked up well again for Willie.
“I’ve had three or four Listed winners but that’s my first Group race success and this fellow will go home for the winter now.”
