Breeders' go-ahead for Araafa

Araafa will head to Churchill Downs for the Breeders' Cup Mile on November 4 after pleasing connections in a workout in Newmarket yesterday.

The Jeremy Noseda-trained Irish 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace hero was last seen chasing home George Washington in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot.

Tony Nerses, racing manager for owners Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, said last night: "He worked very well. He is in tip-top condition and we will be supplementing him for the race.

"Jeremy is very happy with him and thinks we go there with a good chance. We have not decided on a rider at this stage, but it will be a top American jockey."

The Mull Of Kintyre colt is a general 6-1 chance with British firms.
