Araafa considered for Breeders' cup

Irish 2000 Guineas winner Araafa could end his career at next month’s Breeders’ Cup.

Irish 2000 Guineas winner Araafa could end his career at next month’s Breeders’ Cup.

Jeremy Noseda’s three-year-old was withdrawn from Saturday’s Emirates Airline Champion Stakes in preference towards a possible tilt at the Breeders’ Cup Mile on November 4.

Tony Nerses, racing manager to owners Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, told the Racing Post: “The Breeders’ Cup is the only target we are thinking about now.

“The horse is fine and the ground at Newmarket wouldn’t have been a problem for him.

“It was just that the Breeders’ Cup Mile would be a better possible option.”

Runner-up to George Washington in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes last time out, Araafa also has a victory in the Group One St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot to his name this season.
