Levera set for Saturday workout
Alan King will give Levera a crucial workout on Saturday to gauge whether the three-year-old is to make his comeback at Newmarket on Saturday week.
Levera holds an entry in the Group Two VC Bet Challenge Stakes, having been off the track since finishing last in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Before that reverse, Levera won his last four starts – including his first three this season in tremendous style.
“It’s taken a long time to get him back from Ascot. He is due to work tomorrow and if I'm pleased with him, he might take up the Challenge Stakes at Newmarket a week on Saturday,” trainer Alan King told At The Races.
“If not, we’ll put him away for next season. I’ve not decided yet. He will tell us, I think. It was a shame. He’d won four on the trot before Ascot.
“It was a very rough race there and he came back in a quite a bad way and it’s taken a long time to get him back.”
