Speciosa has been declared as a non-runner in the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket this afternoon.
Pam Sly reported her 1000 Guineas winner to be “wrong behind” but is keeping her fingers crossed it is nothing too serious.
It has been a frustrating few weeks for Speciosa's connections as the Danehill Dancer filly has only just recovered from suffered a septic leg – which is unrelated to her new setback.
“I thought she was a little stiff last night so we are not taking any chances,” said Sly. “It’s frustrating but that’s the nature of horses.
“It’s just such a shame because she finally had her (soft) ground and would probably have gone well.
“It might be something over nothing but we’ll see what the vet has to say. She’s still in the Champion Stakes in two weeks but it’s probably too early to say at the moment.”
